As we age, our bodies naturally become less mobile and our functionality decreases. One might wonder why I’m mentioning something we already know. Well, I want to share how seniors can still remain active and participate in sports, even if we can no longer swing a bat or run a marathon. Let’s highlight some fun and entertaining sports that are senior-friendly.
At Regency, Dart Ball is a popular sport that surely can draw a crowd. Dart Ball involves throwing a dart onto a board laid out like a baseball diamond. It follows similar rules to baseball, with nine innings and two teams competing to score the most “runs.” The board has areas for strikes, balls, and outs, mirroring the baseball world. While some hand-eye coordination is needed, anyone can participate or enjoy being a fan!
Another sport Regency offers is Bag Toss, with games and tournaments. Bag Toss is ideal for seniors because it accommodates those with decreased balance or mobility. You only need one hand to play, allowing the other hand to stabilize with a walker or another person’s support. In addition to Dart Ball and Bag Toss, Regency New Berlin features a Shuffleboard and Bocce Ball court which is located on their patio, available all summer long. Regency offers plenty of fitness activities and events to keep you busy all year round. While Regency already provides numerous sports for residents, new sports or activities are always welcome! — These sports highlight the activities available at Regency and emphasizes their inclusivity and enjoyment for seniors.
